Dealing With a Frozen iPhone Screen

Is your iPhone stuck on the apple screen? Is your phone not responding to your touch? Did you jailbreak your iPhone and now it will not load up?

The first method is the simple iPhone reset. If your phone is stuck at the apple screen, or will simply not respond to touch when you know there is not a broken screen involved, follow this method:

Step 1: Don't bang your phone on a hard object...that will simply make it worse in most cases.

Step 2: Hold down the top "power" button and the bottom "home" button simultaneously until the phone resets iteslf

Step 3: Allow the phone to load up and test its functionality

Step 4: If your phone is still stuck at the Apple screen, you will likely need to force a restore

In order to force a restore, please follow the steps below:

Step 1: hold down the "power" button and "home" button at the same time.

Step 2: once the phone resets itself (i.e. The screen goes black and begins to reboot) release only the top "power" button, do not release the "home" button.

Step 3: Continue holding the home button down until the plug into iTunes screen comes on the phone.

Step 4: Plug the iPhone into iTunes and restore the phone

Step 5: If your phone fails the restore process, you have likely corrupted the firmware/memory and you will have to try to convince Apple to replace the phone free or at a discount rate.

This solution was a lifesaver to me when I jailbroke my first iPhone. Thank goodness I was not one of the unfortunate ones who ended up with a brick as a phone.

Please note that a forced restore of the phone should be your last option as it erases everything on the phone without giving you a chance to back it up!
